People with a higher risk of glaucoma are those:-
i) with a first degree family history of glaucoma
ii) over 40 years old
iii) with high intraocular pressure (ocular hypertension)
iv) short sight
v) diabetes
vi) West African origin
vii) Migraine or Raynauds (white fingers in the cold)
viii) Topical steroid use
ix) Previous eye injury.
Patients with risk factors should be seen every year, whereas those without should be checked every 3 years.
