I have only ever seen this in young women, in whom it presents as conjuncitivitis in one eye only. There is often a lump in front of the ear (a tender preauricular lymph node). Patients need to be seen by the genito-urinary team for swabs before starting on treatment. Usually, the infection responds well to a one week course of tetracycline tablets.
